The new 35,406 s.f. facility includes office and laboratory space for Forensic Biology, Controlled Substances, Firearms / Toolmarks, Questioned Documents & Latent Prints.
The new Police Crime Laboratory is the crowning jewel for police criminal investigation for the City of Columbus. This facility brings their Central Property and Evidence Storage, the Crime Scene Search Unit’s offices and associated Laboratories, together with the new Crime Laboratory under one roof. This will enhance the timely processing and investigation of the City’s current caseload.
In addition to their existing caseload, the new facility is designed to provide for the acceptance and processing of “Foreign Contributors”, poising the Crime Lab to potentially be a “Regional Crime Laboratory.” The new facility is designed to ensure the City of Columbus’ ability to maintain their ASCLD/LAB accreditation.
The new 35,406 s.f. facility includes office and laboratory space for Forensic Biology, Controlled Substances, Firearms / Toolmarks, Questioned Documents, Latent Prints, as well as future space for a Digital Forensics Laboratory.
This project was designed in conjunction with McClaren, Wilson & Lawrie, Inc. as the forensic laboratory design consultant for programming, laboratory design, and construction administration.
