Granville Township Fire Station

Granville Township is located 30 miles east of Columbus in Licking County. The community includes many historically rich structures that have influenced the exterior material selection and style of the new Station.

Working in conjunction with the Village of Granville, the Township obtained the site of the existing Village Street Department with plans to relocate the existing uses and demolish the buildings, followed by construction of the new Fire Station. The project was partially funded through a USDA Rural Development Loan which is open to cities or townships with populations of less than 50,000 people.

The new Fire Station replaced the old Station complex in downtown Granville, which was ill-equipped for the current and future needs of the Department. The new Station offers the Department 19,764 square feet of modern usable space, including five drive-thru bays with ancillary spaces including a turnout gear room, EMS storage, gear laundry and a decontamination alcove that is conveniently located directly off the bays.

The Station includes living quarters for up to 10 firefighters and a physical training fitness room as well as a classroom training room and a training mezzanine.

In addition to supporting the needs of the Fire Department, the Station also includes office space for the township trustees with access to a conference room and large meeting room.

Although the new Station is no longer located in the heart of the Village, it was important to the Township to maintain a connection to the public. As a result, the site includes a tree-lined pedestrian path that connects an existing bike path to a firefighter memorial at the public entry.
