The Mull and Weithman team is excited to share that we are wrapping up construction documents for the Columbus Division of Police Substation No. 6 Replacement Project. Construction is anticipated to begin in early 2026 with completion targeted for mid-2027.
Serving one of the fastest-growing areas of Columbus, the new Substation No. 6 will support Precinct #6, the Community Response Team, Detectives, and the Zone Commander within a modern 15,000 S.F. facility. Designed for both operational excellence and community connection, the building features a flexible community meeting room that also functions as an ICC-500 compliant storm shelter, supporting neighborhood events, training, and resilience.
Safety and efficiency are embedded in the design through Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) principles, integrating both natural and built security measures. The facility will include a garage and sallyport, interrogation rooms, BAC testing, bicycle patrol storage, secure covered cruiser parking, locker rooms, a fitness center, tactical gear lockers positioned for rapid deployment, and a Roll Call space with direct access to equipment charging and storage for cameras, radios, and other mission-critical tools.
Throughout the design process, the team has focused on creating a state-of-the-art policing environment, while maintaining architectural continuity with the surrounding warehouse district and the nearby Easton Town Center. The result is a modern, resilient, and community-focused substation that will support law enforcement and the residents they serve for decades to come.
